Tour Description: Coron Island is considered to be the #1 “flat-water”' SUP touring destination in the Philippines. The route takes you through towering limestone cliffs, crystal clear blue lagoons and fine white sand pocket beaches. There will be many stops to rest, snorkle, take photos, or to simply immerse yourself with the nature surrounding you. You will be getting a much more “intimate” experience exploring the island using a SUP. The 10-kilometer route may seem daunting but the reality is that a beginner can easily accomplish it. The main tour-side of the island is protected from strong wind and waves making it accessible all-year round. The included “Boat Support” provides added safety and comfort. If any participant feels tired, he or she may ride the boat to rest and later rejoin the group at any point along the route. The tour is also suitable for families with young children as well as the elderly. A participant may also do the tour using a Kayak instead of a SUP board. Photos from our tour are fantastic but will never match the actual experience of doing it.

Questions:
- How do I get to Coron Town? From abroad (Europe), take a flight and land in Manila airport or Clark airport. You need to take another 1-hour flight from Manila/Clark airport to Coron (Busuanga Airport). From Busuanga Airport, you take a 40-minute van ride to Coron Town. We highly recommend that you book a hotel located in the Coron Town area. There are several hotels in Coron Town that cater to all budgets. Arrangements for van transfer from Busuanga airport to Coron Town is usually made with the hotel.
- What is Coron Island? Coron island is a triangular shaped island considered to be the main attraction of the Calamianes area. It is the ancestral domain of the Tagbanua tribe. The island is maintained and protected by the Tagbanua tribe. There are no resorts or commercial structures on the island. It takes around 20 minutes to get to Coron Island from Coron Town port area by boat. We at Filisup describe Coron Island as follows: “It is an island that King Kong might consider residing at.”
- What should I wear? The temperature in Coron is generally warm to hot. There is no need to use a wet suit. To protect yourself from the sun, it is recommended to wear a light colored long-sleeve shirt or rashguard, cap or wide’brimmed hat, apply sunblock generously and use sunglasses that are cheap and do not mind losing.
- What should I bring? We advocate sustainable tourism so we encourage participants to bring their own “re-usable water bottles” to minimize bringing disposable plastic water bottles to the island. We suggest that you also bring snorkling mask or swim goggles, waterproof/action camera, a towel, and sunblock. Place everything inside a dry bag.
- Can I still do the tour if I have no SUP background? Yes, you can still do the tour. We have had many participants with no SUP background successfully finish the tour. Our guide will teach you the basics that should take only 30 minutes. Our guide will continue to provide paddling technique tips as you do the tour. What is important is the participants willingness to try and learn. The participant can also opt to use a Kayak.
- We are a family with young children, can we still do the tour? Yes, we have had families with children as young as 4 years old do the tour. If the child is very young and light and if the parents are experienced SUPers, the child rides at the front of the board with parent. The child is required to wear a life vest.
- We are a group of seniors in our 70’s, can we still do the tour? Yes, we have had seniors do the tour. We give them the option of using kayaks instead of SUP boards. We also advice to skip the Kayangan Lake destination since it requires a modest hike uphill. We will replace it with another worthy destination.
